Westbury Park Mural
- Lead artist on the Westbury Park mural project, Lorenzo Nassimbeni, collaborated with Counterspace in a series of community engagement processes as informants to the final mural installation. Counterspace assisted with community engagement of the artist with Westbury Youth Centre, where local artists and participants were asked to contribute photographic depictions of their surrounding, particularly concerning the notion of ‘boundary’, which Nassimbeni had identified as an important undercurrent to drive the creative work. Photos contributed by the local group was then arranged into a geometry emanating the the horizon-line between sky and built form by the artist, before being translated onto the wall and grand-stand infrastructure on site at the park. The local artists also assisted with the final installation of the painted designs at the park.
Through the process of the project, Counterspace assisted the artist with technical resolution, project management and conceptual visualisation for the final output. Westbury Park was designed by Iyer Urban Design Studio, in association with Local Studio.
